Prepare Like He’s Coming Tomorrow
Consider Peter’s words in 2 Peter 3:10 “10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies[a] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.” ESV
Peter uses Phrases in both verses that leaves absolutely no doubt in the minds of the readers about the day of the leard. Peter did not say it “might” come, or “there is a pretty good chance it will happen,” or “I am not real sure what the Lord meant by ‘the day of the Lord.’” Peter said, “the day of the Lord WILL come.” The fact that Jesus will return again will be reassuring for some and shocking for those not ready.
Peter goes on to say in verse 11 “since everything WILL be destroyed…” He did not say “might be,” or “probably will be,” or” there is a pretty good chance it could happen.” Peter said everything WILL BE DESTROYED.
