"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
These are some of the most familiar words of Jesus in all of Scripture, offered as part of His invitation to mankind to remedy man's greatest problem: sin. Sin is a burden that causes men to labor and be heavy laden (Romans 6:16, 23; Psalm 38:3-4).
Our 2020 theme will be focused on lessons that key in to three words from this text - come, take, learn. Three responsibilities that must be accepted and fulfilled if any man would find the true rest that Jesus offers. It was true when Jesus first spoke the words and it is still true today. It was hard for people to accept then and it is hard for people to accept today.
Each person must decide daily whether or not he or she will continue to heed Jesus' words. To help encourage a proper response, twelve lessons (one per month) will focus on a different aspect of Jesus' teaching from which we can all take and learn.
Time marches on. A new decade has begun. The days, weeks and months ahead will come swiftly. We must take advantage of the time God will give us. Let us commit to Come, Take and Learn from the Master Teacher.
